The ideal candidate is experienced and detail-oriented, responsible for managing and ensuring the accuracy of client financial records and supporting the firm's bookkeeping workflow.
- Manage the bookkeeping workflow and develop systems to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts, defining policies, and training staff.
- Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions, and balancing subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries.
- Perform all levels of reconciliation, including bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Maintain the general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries and balancing the general ledger by preparing a trial balance.
- Process and manage payroll functions.
- Prepare and submit government filings, including GST/HST and Payroll source deduction remittances.
- Lead the onboarding of new clients and transfer existing data efficiently to cloud software (QBO).
- Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed and ensuring the smooth completion of engagements.
- Minimum of 5 years of responsible accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Proficiency in QBO (Quick Books Online) is a must.
- Extensive experience covering accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, financial reports, and government filings (HST, payroll source deduction remittances).
- Lead the onboarding of new clients and transfer existing data efficiently to cloud software (QBO).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, QBO, Quick Books Desktop, and Sage
50 is required. - Knowledge of regulatory requirements for processing payroll accounting transactions and payroll returns.
- Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills.
- Must be able to keep client matters strictly confidential.
- Attention to detail and strong written/verbal communication skills in English.
- Familiarity with software such as Dext, Hubdoc, Xero, and Wagepoint is considered an asset.
- Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- Ability to travel between client sites in the GTA as needed; valid driver’s license.
