DescriptionSenior Financial Accountant

Our client is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join their team. This role involves maintaining and enhancing core accounting functions within the organization. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, proactive, and interested in engaging in various business areas and special projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing accurate and timely financial statement packages for management
• Assisting with month-end and year-end closing processes to meet deadlines
• Preparing weekly cash flow forecasts
• Overseeing the Accounts Receivable department indirectly, utilizing strategic thinking and analysis for cash flow forecasting
• Coordinating internal and external audits
• Collaborating with teams to provide precise financial information for forecasting and analysis
• Researching and implementing relevant accounting standards, policies, and procedures as needed
• Liaising with external auditors
• Preparing monthly regulatory filings in compliance with provincial and federal laws
• Communicating across departments and subsidiaries within the organization

Preferred qualifications and skills:

• At least 5 years of accounting experience
• CPA designation or working towards it is advantageous
• Experience with ERP systems, especially Sage 300 CRE or Sage Intact, is beneficial
• Experience with Property, Plant, and Equipment (PPE) accounting is a plus
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proactive self-starter capable of process improvement
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
