Senior Tax Analyst

Overview

Waste Connections of Canada is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and results-driven Senior Tax Analyst to join our team in Ajax, Ontario. This position supports a cross-border tax team with members in The Woodlands, Texas and Ajax, Ontario, collaborating to support the tax provision, compliance, audit, and strategic planning requirements of a large international organization.

• Assist with the preparation of the quarterly tax provision under US GAAP
• Prepare federal and provincial income tax returns
• Calculate monthly tax installments
• Prepare foreign reporting information returns for foreign affiliates
• Assist with the preparation of the Globe Income Return
• Prepare and file commodity tax returns
• Assist with CRA and Provincial Revenue Agency notices
• Prepare working papers to address CRA/Provincial tax audit inquiries
• Keep informed of tax laws, regulations, and rulings pertaining to international, federal, provincial, and local taxes
• Analyze and prepare internal memos and reports on the tax effects of business transactions

• Must be able to pass all pre-employment requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• CPA designation or Masters in Taxation is preferred
• 2 - 4 years experience working in a tax department of a public accounting firm or large corporation
• Experience with large corporate or complex tax provision preferred
• Completion or enrollment in the CPA In-Depth Tax Course is an asset
• Team player with strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer skills in MS Office and Tax Prep tax software experience
