Position

Financial Controller for our businesses that sell and produce asphalt and concrete. The Controller will maintain a full set of accounting records accurately and on a timely basis. The successful candidate will be organized, able to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborate with the comptroller and President, and manage multiple tasks including special projects as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Working collaboratively with others in the accounting and finance department.
  • Supervising and mentoring finance team members, fostering professional development and a positive work environment.
  • Day-to-day accounting responsibilities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Monthly reporting of interim financial statements.
  • Preparing annual budgets and conducting variance analysis regularly.
  • Monitoring and reporting cash flow, financial performance, and key performance indicators; identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Implementing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Reconciling bank accounts, intercompany accounts, HST, and all government remittances.
  • Preparing year-end files for external accountants.
  • Regularly making recommendations for improving or changing standard operating procedures.
  • Qualifications
    • CPA designation (minimum 2 years)
    • 2–3 years of related experience in related industries preferred
    • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office; experience with accounting software, preferably Jonas and Quick Books
    • Knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises
