Quality Manager – Vandalia, OH

The Quality Manager for Energizer’s Global Auto Care business will oversee the outstanding quality of products and support the Dayton Plant and product teams.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead a staff of quality engineers & technicians responsible for quality control of products produced or received at our facilities.
  • Communicate product issues and changes across functions, facilities and managerial levels.
  • Apply quality and chemical engineering principles and design intent knowledge to propose, revise or approve changes to current plant processes, product and equipment and quality systems.
  • Analyze data of various types to identify trends or concerns and relate to underlying system or process issues.
  • Champion risk mitigation and change management through temporary change authorization, problem analysis and failure mode effects analysis.
  • Develop metrics and strategies for improvement of product quality and minimizing quality‑related downtime or rework.
  • Participate and/or lead teams to remove roadblocks to operational teams related to improving process, products, and equipment and to achieve cost savings.
  • Lead plant troubleshooting efforts as needed to maintain compliance with process and product specifications.
  • Participate in capital projects and provide quality‑related feedback to engineers and Value Stream Manager.
  • Partner with RD&E to ensure documentation of test methods, material and product specifications, and other plant procedures is accurate and complete.
  • Contribute to new product development teams to ensure quality is built into the design of our products.
  • Promote and establish partnerships with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure acceptable quality of raw materials, components, and externally sourced products and issue Supplier CAR’s as appropriate.
  • Apply quality tools to identify deficiencies and drive to root cause to keep projects on track.
  • Coordinate or lead efforts to understand, remedy, and respond to corrective actions for customer complaints.
  • Lead 2‑shift operations department for chemical blending production process/team.
  • Lead ISO 9001 Internal/External audits and serve as the Quality representative for any additional plant certificates.
Qualifications
  • High School/GED required;
    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in supervisory/management roles.
  • Experience with chemical manufacturing processes, control systems and Quality Management Systems in a chemical manufacturing, packaging or bottling environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in Chemical Engineering, chemical blending or Supplier Quality improvement processes.
  • Quality assurance experience – systems and projects.
  • Financial acumen related to operation & capital projects.
  • Strong leadership, managerial, communication and interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Experience working with multifunctional teams and effectively interfacing with external partners.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ISO certification experience.
  • SMETA 4 or Pillar experience.
  • GMP certified experience.
  • Six Sigma certification.
