Position Overview
The Hydraulic Repair Lead is a working lead responsible for owning the day-to-day performance of the hydraulic repair operation. This role combines technical leadership, customer responsiveness, and operational accountability with approximately 50% hands-on repair work. The Hydraulic Repair Lead oversees repair evaluation, quoting, delegation of work and guidance to a Repair Technician while collaborating with an internal Tech Desk for parts research, order entry, and invoicing.
This role is accountable for repair quality, turnaround time, margin performance, customer satisfaction, and may support department and business needs through additional tasks, as assigned. This is a full-time position, M – F, 8:00am to 4:30pm.
Repair Ownership & Leadership
- Serve as the primary owner of the hydraulic repair workflow from intake through invoicing
- Assign work, set priorities, and provide technical guidance to the Repair Technician
- Ensure repairs are completed safely, correctly, and in alignment with customer expectations
- Act as escalation point for complex repairs or customer issues
Evaluation, Quoting & Customer Support
- Evaluate incoming hydraulic components to determine repair scope and feasibility
- Develop accurate, timely repair quotes including parts, labor, and lead time
- Communicate repair findings, recommendations, and timelines to internal teams
- Ensure customer approvals are obtained prior to work execution
Parts Research & Procurement
- Research hydraulic components, seals, and replacement parts to support repair activities
- Identify equivalent or alternate parts when OEM components are unavailable
- Identify and ensure correct parts are sourced
Order Entry, Tracking & Invoicing
- Track repair job status and ensure timely progression through the repair process
- Verify completed work, labor hours, and parts used prior to invoicing
- Ensure repair jobs are invoiced promptly upon completion
Hands-On Repair Work (approximately 50%)
- Perform hydraulic repairs as needed, including troubleshooting, disassembly, reassembly, and testing
- Support the Repair Technician during high workload periods or complex jobs
- Complete internal inspections/repair for hosecrimpers, as needed
- Complete internal inspection for damaged products received, as requested.
Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company standards
- Monitor repair quality and reduce rework or repeat failures
- Identify opportunities to improve repair processes, quoting accuracy, and turnaround time
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of hands-on hydraulic repair or industrial equipment maintenance experience (preferred)
- Strong understanding of hydraulic components, seals, and systems
- Experience evaluating repairs and developing quotes
- Ability to research parts and interpret technical documentation
- P21 experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Enerpac Certification required upon hire (1 week of repair classes in Columbus, WI.)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Hands-on work in a shop environment with hydraulic components and industrial equipment.
- Regular standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, and use of tools.
- Occasional customer site visits may be required.
