Senior Software Engineer, Core Experiences - Vancouver, USA

Overview

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Core Experiences Team. This team builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s product experience across platforms. It's a role at the intersection of product and infrastructure, focused on designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance the user experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, navigate integration/UX tradeoffs, and deliver solutions via our cross-platform SDK.
• Optimize existing functionality to improve performance, loading times, and parsing by designing efficient abstractions and improving algorithms.
• Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin.

• Systems thinking: you design end-to-end systems with an emphasis on simplicity.
• Speed: you generate ideas quickly and discern what can ship now vs. what needs more time.
• Focus: you balance rapid work with the need to be heads-down when required in a fast-growth environment.
• Collaboration:
  
  you can inspire and negotiate with designers, marketers, and PMs.
• Preferred Tech Stack:
  Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience is acceptable but role focuses on Kotlin Multiplatform); prior experience with GCP is a plus.

Salary
The United States Based salary range for this role is ,000 USD per year plus bonus and stock, depending on experience.
