Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour DOE

• Prefer candidates with an associate's or bachelor's degree in a science field, or 4 years of Wastewater operations or Industrial Pretreatment experience.
• Candidates must have an interest in working outdoors.
• Highly independent and organized individual able to troubleshoot and problem solve.

• Analyze wastewater and industrial waters for field parameters including pH, dissolved oxygen, sulfite, nitrogen compounds and others as necessary for industrial pretreatment monitoring.
• Maintain sampling equipment and sampling inventory.
• Collect Industrial wastewater discharges from various businesses in the Vancouver area.
• Follow laboratory and field work safety protocol and use necessary PPE at all times.
• Properly dispose of environmental samples.
• Accurately enter data in LIMS.
• Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a team environment.
• Maintain a good driving record and navigate unfamiliar areas.
• Take monitoring recordings and make adjustments to the treatment process at a pretreatment lagoon, including addition of nutrients and balance of oxygen.
• Handle samples properly, including chain of custody procedures.
• Create accurate sample fractions from parent samples.
• Document laboratory and operational procedures accurately.
• Coordinate with industries to schedule sample collection.
• Maintain laboratory and field equipment, including dissolved oxygen probes, pH probes, TDS sensors, etc.
• Use a boat to perform field analysis of the lagoon process, collect samples, and take readings of sludge depth and dissolved oxygen.
• Use a microscope to properly identify bacteria in wastewater samples.
• Create, update, and maintain standard operating procedures and safety documentation.
• Organize sampling events.
• Work with preserved collection bottles in a safe and acceptable manner.
• Coordinate with subcontract laboratories for sample bottle orders and courier pickups.
• Maintain equipment for successful operation of the IPP Lagoon.
• Work schedule will be day shift Monday through Friday.
• Some holiday work required.
• Stand for approximately 80% of an 8‑hour work day.
• Lift items regularly between 1 and 15 pounds.
• Lift items occasionally between 15 and 50 pounds.
