SummaryHCEPInc is seeking an experienced Interim Materials Manager to oversee and optimize hospital supply chain and materials management operations during a critical transition period. This leadership role is responsible for procurement, inventory control, distribution, and vendor management, ensuring that all departments have the supplies needed for safe, efficient, and high‑quality patient care. The Interim Materials Manager will partner with clinical leaders to align supply chain initiatives with organizational goals, drive cost‑effective strategies, and maintain compliance with healthcare regulatory standards.
EssentialFunctions
- Lead hospital‑wide supply chain and materials management operations, including procurement, receiving, storage, and distribution.
- Maintain accurate supply pricing, charge data, and inventory records to support operational and financial integrity.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and enhance supply chain performance.
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and monitor supplier performance to ensure value and reliability.
- Apply Lean/Six Sigma methodologies to streamline processes, reduce waste, and optimize workflows.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative leadership to ensure timely availability of critical supplies and alignment with patient care goals.
- Monitor departmental KPIs, prepare performance reports, and manage the operating budget and capital purchases.
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, OSHA, and other healthcare regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Supervise, mentor, and support the professional development of materials management staff.
- Partner with hospital leadership during the transition period to drive immediate improvements and position the department for long‑term success.
- Minimum 3 years of materials management or supply chain experience in an acute care hospital.
- Proven leadership experience in a healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of ERP or inventory systems (Lawson, People Soft, Oracle, etc.).
- Strong problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to start quickly and work effectively in a fast‑paced hospital setting.
