The Role
This position is responsible for ensuring a Level Three Branch meets or exceeds its goals for production, sales and service, and member‑market growth. The incumbent promotes Columbia Credit Union’s sales through a "service initiative" and effective sales management, implements staff and leadership development plans, ensures regulatory compliance, communicates critical information between upper management and staff, and advances the Credit Union’s strategic direction.
Responsibilities- Comply with internal controls and federal/state laws, including currency transaction reporting and the Bank Secrecy Act.
- Hire for vacancies and maintain adequate, competent staffing.
- Maintain effective employee relations and a highly motivated staff.
- Oversee adequate staffing for efficient branch operation.
- Coordinate with Business Banking and Business Development to achieve sales and member growth goals.
- Manage branch security and safety; train staff on security and robbery procedures.
- Actively call on existing and prospective members, exploring needs and cross‑selling products and services.
- Process all member transactions and requests (e.g., computer operations, coin machine, ATM, drive‑up, vault).
- Open new accounts, process and book loans, and operate a teller window as needed.
- Perform signature guarantee as required.
- Seek opportunities to represent Columbia through volunteerism and community involvement.
- Serve as greeter when needed to assist members entering the branch.
- Mentor Assistant Branch Manager and, when authorized, oversee Level I and II Branch Managers.
- Monitor key products and sales to ensure profitable, sound business practices.
- Promote and support a cross‑selling environment and train employees accordingly.
- Evaluate staff performance and ensure quality of service to members.
- Monitor branch productivity (transaction/loan volume, sales, new accounts).
- Participate in special projects as assigned.
- Perform other branch functions/duties as necessary.
- Recommend, implement, and supervise the branch budget.
- Research the branch market area to develop effective sales techniques that generate new accounts, deposits, and loans.
- Participate in continuing education and training.
- BM I: 6 years of financial institution experience; 1 year supervisory experience preferred.
- BM II: 6 years of banking/credit union experience; at least Level 1 Branch or Higher supervisory experience, with 2 years as Branch Manager or 4 years as Assistant Branch Manager.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated ability in a "sales through service" environment.
- Coaching and communication skills at all organizational levels.
- In‑depth knowledge of products and services.
- Maintains Notary and CL/CD licenses.
- Proficient in Word and Excel.
- Current NMLS license or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Required lending experience.
- Thorough knowledge of all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to financial operations and personnel.
$80,170.00 – $85,000.00 per year
