Job MissionLead design and permitting operations to support our homebuilding objectives. Oversee drafting, permit submissions, compliance, and cross‑departmental collaboration to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant plan submittals.
Responsibilities- Lead, coach, and develop the Permit, Design, and Drafting team, providing mentorship and professional development.
- Oversee all production drafting, ensuring plan sets are accurate, compliant, and permit‑ready, while refining standards, templates, block libraries, and workflows.
- Manage the full design function across all divisions, including new plans, refresh initiatives, and design improvements aligned with brand and customer expectations.
- Lead permitting to guarantee timely, accurate submissions, building relationships with city and county jurisdictions.
- Collaborate with construction, land, engineering, purchasing, and sales to align drafting, permitting, and field operations.
- Drive long‑range planning for drafting, permitting, and design operations, identify process improvements, and establish departmental KPIs.
- 2+ years of experience in permit processing or design management within residential construction.
- Knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and permit requirements in WA, OR, and .
- Demonstrated ability to manage design processes and collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors.
- Strong multitasking, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Excellent communication skills for working with city officials, internal teams, and external partners.
- Proficiency in CRM and project‑management software.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) proficiency.
- Familiarity with design software (AutoCAD or Revit) is a plus.
- Team‑work orientation and proven history navigating permitting processes.
- Experience tracking project metrics for on‑time completion and compliance.
