Employment Type:
Per Diem / On‑Call, up to 20 hrs/week (8‑hr shifts)
Salary Range: $19.17 - $27.71 per hour
Under general supervision, serves as a Care Coordinator scheduling a variety of patient appointments such as office visits, lab appointments, chemotherapy appointments, and tests as indicated by the provider. The role may also include outside scheduling and coordination of outside referrals. Serves as a resource and liaison between patients and other medical staff. Answers incoming calls and triages calls appropriately. Accuracy, efficiency, and excellent time management are crucial.
Familiarity with medical concepts and medical office practices is required.
- Demonstrate an understanding of patient confidentiality.
- Accurately and efficiently schedule patient medical appointments, including office visits, labs, chemotherapy, and ancillary appointments ordered by provider.
- Assist patients in coordinating external referrals.
- Obtain and maintain accurate patient demographics and insurance information and communicate changes appropriately.
- Research and respond to routine and non‑routine patient inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Answer all incoming calls, assess caller needs, and direct to appropriate personnel or department.
- Page clinic personnel as appropriate and obtain/communicate messages accurately and promptly using patient portal.
- Develop and maintain positive collaborative relationships across all departments and staff.
- Attend weekly team huddles led by provider to discuss patient cases.
- Actively participate in departmental and inter‑departmental staff meetings, work groups, or other collaborative efforts as needed.
- Serve as a resource for all clinic staff, including training, shadowing, and onboarding.
- Demonstrate reliability and punctuality by consistently showing up on time.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
- At least two (2) years of office experience, preferably in a medical setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology highly desired.
- Ability to adapt to a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in computer use and familiarity with electronic medical record systems.
- Commitment to the Code of Ethics and Business Standards under the US Oncology Compliance Program.
