Community Risk Reduction Coordinator
Location: Clark County Fire District 6 in Vancouver, Washington
Employment Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Reports To: Assistant Chief – Administration
Salary Range: $7,917 – $10,000 monthly (depending on experience and qualifications)
About the DistrictMembers of Clark County Fire District 6 proudly serve the citizens living and working in the Hazel Dell, Lakeshore, Felida, Salmon Creek, Fairgrounds and Mount Vista areas. Located in beautiful Southwest Washington, Fire District 6 operates three fire stations with almost 100 employees.
About the RoleWe are seeking a Community Risk Reduction Coordinator to join our team and help advance our mission to serve and protect the community. This position plays a vital role in planning, coordinating, and delivering public education, community risk reduction programs, public information, and media relations initiatives. Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement Community Risk Reduction (CRR) and all-hazards educational programs.
- Lead public education, media, and community outreach events.
- Manage our Volunteer and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) programs.
- Maintain the District’s website and produce newsletters.
- Act as Public Information Officer (PIO) during emergencies and public events.
- Track budgets, maintain records, prepare reports, and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Partner with agencies, schools, and other community organizations.
- Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED; associate degree required, bachelor’s preferred (education, communications, marketing, or related).
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience; community risk reduction experience preferred.
- Licenses &
Certifications:- Valid driver’s license required.
- Preferred: CPR/basic first-aid, Fire and Life Safety Educator, Youth Firesetter Intervention Specialist, or equivalent.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Exceptional public speaking, writing, and communication.
- Proficient in computers and business software.
- Strong organizational, planning, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to multitask, handle sensitive information, and collaborate with diverse populations.
Physical Requirements
- Office-based role with occasional outdoor events and emergency scene response.
- Requirements include typing, walking, standing, lifting up to 25 lbs., and extended sitting or standing periods.
