Transportation Design Engineers (Entry to Mid-Level)

DJ&A is seeking full‑time Transportation Design Engineers with 1‑10 years of relevant experience. Candidates must hold an EIT certificate at a minimum. The ideal candidate is a problem solver, an effective communicator, with analytical and organizational skills. Experience in civil engineering and road and highway design is required. Candidates should be motivated self‑starters who appreciate working on a variety of projects across the western U.S., team‑oriented, and eager to learn and grow with the company.

• Assist in delivering engineering designs for local, state, and federal highway and transportation projects.
• Support teams in the design and delivery of roadway infrastructure projects of varying size and complexity.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams in a leading or supporting role.
• Provide assistance to our design team as required, including use of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar programs.
• Perform detailed CAD design, including roadway geometric design.
• Assisting in verifying code compliance, quality checks, and implementing QA/QC procedures.

• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Micro Station InRoads and/or Open Roads is desired.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills.
• Highly proficient analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Independent, self‑motivated, results‑oriented, and dynamic.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and with geographically dispersed teams.

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or related engineering field and an EIT certificate (minimum).
• Project experience with federal agencies (FHWA, NPS, USFS, NRCS, etc.) is a plus.
• Well versed in transportation design including AASHTO, MUTCD, NACTO, and State DOT Manuals.

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to travel to various (and sometimes remote) project sites.
• Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.

• Wage commensurate with qualifications and experience.
• Exempt overtime paid as straight time upon obtaining P.E. licensure.
