Job Overview
Join AZAD as an Electrical Engineer and is responsible for providing technical leadership for substation projects for the scoping, design, construction and closeout phases. Project engineers work closely with planning engineers, asset/program managers, project managers and contracting officers/CORs and serve as the link between those personnel and the scoping and design teams. Project engineers have primary leadership roles during the scoping phase of projects.
Project engineers also provide consulting services to Transmission Planning and other organizations to provide what-if analysis and feasibility studies for projects in planning phases. Project engineers provide technical leadership during the design phase of projects and help resolve technical problems, disagreements and scope changes. Project engineers also provide those same services during the construction phase, although to a lesser extent.

This is a 2‑year-plus consultant position with a high probability of long‑term and ongoing continued employment. The role is hybrid in Vancouver, WA with onsite 1–2 days weekly.
CompensationThe hourly pay rate range for this position ($63.00 – $72.00) (which includes a health and welfare fringe benefit of $4.93) depends on related qualifications and experience, as well as the composition of the selected compensation package.
ResponsibilitiesProject engineers provide technical leadership for substation projects across scoping, design, construction and closeout phases, coordinate with planning engineers, asset/program managers, project managers, contracting officers/CORs, and deliver consulting services for high-voltage substation, telecommunications system, or high‑voltage transmission line projects.
QualificationsMinimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
- 10 years of experience with an applicable Bachelor’s degree.
- Project management experience in high‑voltage substation, telecommunication system or high‑voltage transmission line systems.
- 3 years working knowledge of high‑voltage systems, system control, communications, relay planning, and functional and technical specifications in a typical electric power system.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- First Aid/AED/CPR certification required within 30 days of assignment start; the worker/employer is responsible for maintaining current certification.
Preferred:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
