Hours / Work Times: 6 Hours Per Day (9:35 a.m. – 4:05 p.m. includes 30 minute unpaid lunch); 3.83 Hours on Early-Release Days (9:35 a.m. – 1:55 p.m. includes 30 minute unpaid time); 190 Days Per Year (180 student days / 10 holidays)
This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 3/4/26.
Must meet Para educator Employment Requirements:
- Be at least eighteen (18) years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent; AND
- Must meet one or more of the following:
- Have received a passing score of 455 or higher on the Education Testing Service Para Pro Assessment (ETS test/PRAXIS); or
- Hold an Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or
- Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university; or
- Have completed a Para educator Apprenticeship Program (program must be registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council).

Upon hire, new para educators will be required to complete state required training offered through Evergreen School District.

Salary information is available via the salary schedule linked in the posting (PSE Large Group Salary Schedule).
Salary Placement: New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the classification salary range. Prior years of service or relevant experience may receive credit towards salary step placement.
EPS offers eligible employees who work at least 630 hours in a school year medical, dental, vision, basic long-term disability, basic life and AD&D insurance through SEBB, with additional benefits options (FSA, DCAP, HSA, FPFSA, etc.).

Essential Functions and QualificationsSummary: Under supervision of the Special Education classroom instructor and the building Principal, the Para educator will assist in supervising instructional activities and work with students individually or in small groups.
Essential Functions:
- Under direction of the Special Education teacher or IEP manager, provide special education services and supports to students eligible for special education as follows.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Provide one-to-one and group instruction as directed by the teacher to meet IEP goals.
- Help establish and maintain a learning environment aligned with course goals and curriculum outcomes.
- Assess student progress, evaluate learning, and collect performance data toward IEP goals.
- Maintain accurate data on student progress.
- Assist in administering and scoring formal and informal tests.
- Implement behavioral management strategies as outlined by the teacher.
- Assist in organizing and preparing instructional materials.
- Address students’ bathroom needs; assist/transfer/position students as required; assist with feeding as necessary; handle body fluids as needed; lift and/or position students.
