Clark College is accepting applications for a full-time tenure-track Nursing Professor. This position teaches first-year nursing students about fundamentals of nursing. The ideal candidate will have a background in long-term care, memory care, skilled or rehab nursing care, or foundational nursing skills. Individuals with other nursing backgrounds and combinations of nursing experience and education are encouraged to apply. Experience with classroom/theory, clinical skills and simulation is preferred.
The successful candidate will teach a combination of in-person didactic, clinical, and lab courses within a team setting.
Department and college service work is expected to support the institutional mission and goals, with student success and retention as a primary focus. This position will begin September 11, 2026 and is located at the Clark College Building at the Washington State University Vancouver (WSUV) campus.

Position ResponsibilitiesFACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruct all classes as an expert in the discipline using active learning approaches that engage and facilitate student learning.
- Advise and assist students in their educational and career development.
- Strive to enhance teaching and learning techniques.
- Pursue professional development to stay current in the field.
- Obtain and maintain Professional-Technical Certification requirements.
- Participate in program, curriculum development and assessment activities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, businesses, advisory committees, and other educational partners to create unique learning opportunities at Clark College.
- Participate in decision-making processes by taking part in department and college committees.
- Work well with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Understand and commit to the mission of Clark College.
- Work cooperatively in department-level activities and college or company-wide projects.
- Pursue professional development to enhance teaching and learning in the department and College.
POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruct all classes effectively utilizing technology (e.g. learning management systems, web-based simulations, or other) as part of course design and implementation to facilitate student learning and success.
- Provide appropriate means to assess student progress and provide timely feedback.
- Coordinate with clinical partners to promote safe and effective clinical learning experiences for students.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with clinical partners.
- Attend and participate in department and college committees.
- Actively engage in department efforts to integrate social determinants of health and culturally responsive curriculum.
- Engage in ongoing curriculum review and development.
- Maintain department standards and policies.
- Participate in maintaining program accreditation.
- Obtain and maintain vocational certification, nursing licensure, and other industry certifications related to the role.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND
COMPETENCIES:
- A Bachelor's degree in Nursing and a graduate degree in a health or education-related field by time of hire, and three (3) full-time equivalent years of registered nursing experience, and Washington and Oregon state RN license by time of hire.
- OR a graduate degree in Nursing and three (3) full-time equivalent years of registered nursing experience and Washington and Oregon state RN license by time of hire.
SALARY STATEMENT:
The current starting salary is $136,724, including $85,724 base salary, $27,000 nursing salary supplement, and $24,000 nursing salary stipend. The top step salary is $173,642. Salary is for a 173-day contract; additional compensation is available through summer and moonlight teaching, and doctoral and vocational stipends. The nursing stipend and supplement depend on continued funding. Salary may be adjusted for the year pending legislatively funded cost-of-living.
