Our client is a large-scale industrial organization with corporate operations based in the region. They are looking for a General Ledger Accountant to join their finance team and manage a diverse portfolio of accounting and treasury functions. This is a great role for an accountant who enjoys a mix of technical work and specialized tax compliance, offering the chance to support a complex production environment while working in a collaborative corporate setting.
Job Duties
- Prepare detailed accounting analysis, journal entries, and account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial records.
- Execute daily treasury support functions including cash reconciliation, positive pay, and borrowing administration.
- Manage sales and use tax filings for multiple jurisdictions across the United States and Canada, including filing amendments as needed.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for sales and use tax audits conducted by government entities and external consultants.
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies while ensuring compliance with company policies and GAAP.
- Provide essential support for the financial reporting function, including the preparation of disclosure schedules.
- Assist with external and internal audits by preparing required schedules and supporting documentation.
- Support the income tax provision and compliance process to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Document and update internal control procedures and departmental workflows for all assigned areas.
- Act as a backup for fixed asset accounting and other treasury tasks during high-volume periods.
- Lead special projects as assigned to improve accounting efficiencies and departmental performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an equivalent field of study.
- Minimum of 3 years of general ledger accounting experience.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and technical accounting principles.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred but not required.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with SAP or similar large-scale ERP systems is preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- A detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to building efficiencies in daily workflows.
- Proven ability to work independently on complex tasks while contributing to a team environment.
- Familiarity with internal controls and the ability to document workflows into a supportable work product.
