The Cruise Services Coordinator is a role that performs onsite liaison work with the Cruise Ship Terminal Operator (the “Operator”) in the day‑to‑day cruise passenger and ground transportation operations, particularly during embarkation and disembarkation days. This position also provides operational guidance to the Traffic Attendant leads, cruise terminal users, cruise line partners, visitors and contractors to ensure operational efficiencies at Canada Place cruise terminal.

This position performs other related duties with respect to the requirements of the cruise terminal users, passenger, cruise lines and other users of the cruise terminals.

What You Do
  • Liaise with the Operator to ensure operational efficiencies are maintained on a real‑time basis.
  • Assist in the day‑to‑day planning and execution of cruise operations.
  • Report non‑compliance of all cruise terminal services providers and users.
  • Escalate matters in a timely fashion.
  • Prepare and complete various reports, summaries and/or daily logs. These updates may include, but not limited to, occurrence reports, weekly summaries, daily logs, Cruise Dashboards, or status reports.
  • Liaise with Canada Place Operations Centre, VFPA Operations Centre, USCBP, CBSA and service providers as related to operations.
  • Maintain effective communication with cruise lines, service contractors, cruise passengers, and others while balancing the imperatives of customer service and operations efficiency.
  • Coordinate the on‑site collection of data by Traffic Attendants or hired consultants (e.g., taxi wait times, passenger journey times, etc.).
  • When required, direct vehicles, passengers, and general access to and from the cruise facilities at Canada Place, including customs and other restricted areas.
  • Assist in the coordination of annual traffic attendant training and uniform requirements.
  • Support project and project administrative activities including budget updates, status reports and follow up on open action items.
  • Participate in process and practice improvements specific to ground transportation vehicles, passenger flow and general access to and from the cruise terminal, including externally licensed areas (i.e., parkade, convention centre), customs and other restricted areas.
  • Suggest effective solutions to mitigate against recurring issues regarding passenger flow and operational efficiency, as required.
  • Represent the port authority in stakeholder and customer working groups and committees, as required.
What You Bring
  • Completion of a one (1) year full‑time post‑secondary certificate in operations, marketing or another acceptable certificate from a recognized educational institution, along with a minimum of 1.5 years related experience in a combination of cruise services, customer relations, marketing, operations or logistics related field.
  • Traffic control training may be required.
  • Knowledge of a second language and possession of a first‑aid ticket would be considered an asset.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel. Experience with data collection and analysis is also an asset.
  • Must be a professional and responsible individual with the ability to work independently, in a team environment and with diverse groups of people.
