Job Description
The team behind Gears of War is searching for a UI Software Engineer to help bring our next AAA, next-generation user experience to life! We work primarily in C++, using Unreal Engine 5. Our UI content is authored using Unreal Motion Graphics (UMG), a state‑of‑the‑art UI framework, giving us the power to make our UI a best‑in‑class showpiece for Xbox and Windows games.
In this role you will architect and build the systems that allow our artists and designers to shine, with a focus on performance and iteration speed.
The UI team at The Coalition is uniquely poised to have a huge impact on our projects. We are often the driving force behind large features, both in the frontend and in gameplay. We are a diverse set of developers with backgrounds in web, VR, mobile, and games (both competitive and casual) brought together by a shared passion for delivering unparalleled user experiences.
Responsibilities- Architect and develop UI systems using C++ and Unreal Engine 5.
- Build and maintain UMG widgets and UI frameworks for Xbox and Windows platforms.
- Collaborate with artists, designers, and other engineers to deliver high‑performance UI with rapid iteration.
- Drive performance optimizations and ensure smooth user experiences.
Required
- Software engineering experience in video‑game development, proficient in C++.
- BSc degree or equivalent experience/education.
Preferred
- Shipped professional game projects.
- Experience using Unreal Engine and Unreal Motion Graphics.
- Built UI for games.
- Obsessed with the player experience.
