VIA Rail Canada Inc., Canada’s national passenger rail service, is seeking 2 Railway Car Technicians to work at its Vancouver Maintenance Center, with the possibility to work in our Mission maintenance center.
Day in the Life as a Railway Car TechnicianYou will ensure our passenger cars operate at peak capacity year-round by servicing our national fleet through regular maintenance and heavy repairs. The interior and exterior of our train cars require care, including maintenance on seats, toilets, tables, sinks, blinds, panels, piping (air & water), windows, brake rigging, and more. Technicians are trained to tackle major components such as wheelsets, couplers, and springs.
Schedule- The position is permanent (40 hours per week guaranteed) and the work schedule may vary (day, evening, night, weekends and holidays).
- Shifts are set in advance with no on-call requirements, to support time off.
- Over-time is available.
- Candidates must be available to work any day of the week (including weekends) at the Vancouver Maintenance Center, with a possibility to work in the Mission location.
- Hourly salary: $38.49 - $46.43/H (based on experience).
- Evening shift differential: $1.50/H.
- Night shift differential: $2.00/H.
- Red Seal differential: $1.00/H.
- Full benefits: dental, medical (prescription glasses, drug prescription), pension plan, ride pass.
- 5 personal days + vacations.

Red Seal certified tradespersons are ideal, however apprentices are welcome to apply.
Nice-to-Have- Journeyman status
- Red Seal
- Experience in machinery maintenance
- Experience assembling, mounting, or finishing transportation equipment
