Overview
Project-based role in Squamish – 14 days on / 7 days off. Lodging and meals provided.
As a Senior Technician – Security with Paladin Technologies, you will collaborate with Project Managers and Sales Teams to review, understand, analyze, and implement installation blueprints and plans to complete security system installations. You will follow the Bill of Materials, troubleshoot, and provide alternative solutions to meet client satisfaction. General Accountabilities- Install, program, configure, and commission security systems including CCTV cameras, access control, intrusion alarms, and fence detection systems in accordance with industry standards and client specifications.
- Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure continued functionality and reliability of security systems. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their security needs, provide expert guidance, and offer tailored solutions, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction through effective communication and professionalism.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system installations, maintenance activities, and repairs, and prepare detailed reports and acceptance test plans to meet SLAs and contract requirements.
- Train clients and end‑users on the operation of security systems to maximize effectiveness and ease of use.
- Stay up to date with advancements in security technology, regulations, and industry best practices. Pursue continuous improvement through training and certifications.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and compliance standards related to security system installation and maintenance.
- Complete administrative duties including project updates to Project Managers and filing all project documentation.
- Serve as a mentor to colleagues, offering guidance in testing, fine‑tuning, and optimizing equipment for peak operational efficiency.
- Support, lead, and mentor team members; design systems and layouts.
- Maintain a high level of safety and professionalism.
- Lead projects at a site level and manage a team of junior technicians as necessary.
- Be available on‑call before or after scheduled hours, and/or on a day when not regularly scheduled to work.
- Perform other duties as required.
- 5+ years of experience in a technical role within the integrated security industry.
- Progressive experience in a technical role within the integrated security or low‑voltage industries.
- Programming experience (essential for senior positions).
- Previous experience leading installations at the site level.
- Valid TQ certification.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency in the use of relevant tools and equipment.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean abstract.
- Ability to work 10–12 hour days as part of a camp‑based rotational schedule (14 days on / 7 days off).
- Industry experience in Healthcare, Education, Manufacturing, Utilities, Financial & Hospitals.
- Experience with video surveillance systems such as Avigilon, Genetec, Milestone, Bosch, Axis, Hanwha, Exacq.
- Experience with access control systems including Lenel, Software House, Avigilon, Genetec, Identiv, Honeywell, Open Path, RS2, S2, AMAG, Gallagher, Open Options.
- Experience with intrusion systems such as DMP, DSC, Honeywell, Bosch.
- Experience with locking hardware: maglocks, strikes, mortise, cylindrical, ADA applications.
- Data terminations knowledge.
- Field engineering or estimating skills.
- Updating blueprints on Bluebeam.
- Experience with Procore, Fieldwire, Smartsheets, etc.
- Experience with programming, testing, and training end users on various security systems.
- Proper hand and power tool operation and safety.
- Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under minimal supervision.
- Ability to organize workload for effective implementation.
- Ability to complete projects on time and on budget.
- Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations.
