ABOUT

THE ROLE

Amrize Construction is seeking a full-time Heavy Duty Mechanic/Commercial Transport Mechanic to join our team. This role is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a fleet of cement mixers and other heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. This position will be for our Kent Ave Plant location in Vancouver, BC.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on cement mixers and supporting heavy equipment.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and equipment operators to identify equipment issues and provide guidance on preventive maintenance practices.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols during all maintenance and repair activities.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in commercial transport technology and repair techniques.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to identify and address potential issues before they escalated.
  • Troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and other components of heavy equipment.
  • Replace faulty or worn-out parts and components using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Follow manufacturer specifications, repair manuals, and technical guidelines during repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Field of Study Preferred: Heavy Duty Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Technician

Required

Work Experience:

Minimum of in 3-5 years of experience

Required Training/

Certifications:

Journeyman/Red Seal Commercial Transport Mechanic or Heavy Duty Mechanic with on-road experience, Columbia Commercial Vehicle Inspectors Certificate (asset) Forklift Certificate and experience (asset) First aid certification (asset)

Required Technical

Skills:

Knowledge of Cummins and Paccar engines Province of British Columbia

Additional Requirements
  • Shift: Afternoon Start between 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
  • Knowledge and ability to inspect, test, diagnose, assess, troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other heavy equipment components.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Experience in the construction industry is an asset.
