We are seeking an experienced and Security Systems Technician (Senior/Lead) to join our team! Since our establishment in 2015, Blackbird Security has swiftly expanded from coast to coast, serving major retailers, condominiums, warehouses and more.
Rooted in Vancouver, BC, we seamlessly blend the professionalism of a large corporation with the personalized touch of a small business, specializing in tailored physical security solutions nationwide.
This is a critical “boots‑on‑ground” role, serving as the lead technician responsible for the end‑to‑end installation and programming of commercial security systems, including CCTV, Intrusion, and Access Control. The individual will set the standard for workmanship, manage client interactions on‑site, and report directly to the owners. This person is the primary candidate to step into a Field Supervisor or Lead Hand role as the company grows.
They are the face of the company to the customer.
- Deliver flawless installations with zero call‑backs
- Perform end‑to‑end installation and programming of commercial security systems
- Fine‑tune installation workflows, inventory systems, and reporting standards
- Manage sites independently and represent the company to customers
- Coordinate daily with the Project Manager/Owner regarding schedules and material needs
- Quality Execution:

Helping fine‑tune our installation workflows, van inventory systems, and reporting standards - Reliability:
Proving they can manage sites independently so the owner can focus on business development
- Mandatory: Valid BC TQ Security Alarm Installer License
- Mandatory: Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract
- Experience: 3–5+ years in commercial environments (warehouses, retail, strata). Purely residential experience is not sufficient
- Technical: Proficiency in running and terminating low‑voltage cabling (Cat5/6, Coax), conduit bending, and panel termination
- CCTV: IP and Analog systems (Ubiquiti, Axis, or Hanwha)
- Access Control: Keyscan, ICT, or similar commercial platforms
- Networking: Basic ability to set up IP addresses, port forwarding, and mobile app configuration
- BCIT SST Certification
- Fall Protection, WHMIS, Aerial Lift/Boom Lift certification
- Location: 100% On‑site / Field‑based, with daily travel throughout the Lower Mainland (Tri‑Cities, Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey)
- Hours: Standard hours Monday to Friday (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM), but flexibility for after‑hours or weekend work may be required
- Competitive hourly wage $30.00 to $40.00
