Manager, Safety & Security - BC Place - FIFA Support
Our Safety & Security team plays a central role in delivering a safe, welcoming experience for millions of guests each year. As BC Place prepares to host the FIFA World Cup in 2026, we’re looking for a temporary Manager, Safety & Security to help support this historic event. This position is expected to conclude on August 31, 2026
.
In this role, you’ll support the day-to-day security operations of the stadium and help implement the enhanced safety measures required for one of the largest sporting events in the world. Working closely with the Senior Manager, Safety & Security you’ll assist in the development, coordination, execution and communication of all events and building security procedures tied to the FIFA World Cup.
This position is responsible for all aspects of building and event security, including emergency procedures, crowd management, and liaison with law enforcement, event partners, and the City of Vancouver.
- Oversee event deployment and ensure security staffing levels meet operational needs.
- Contribute to developing and maintaining stadium safety and security policies for both event and non-event operations.
- Help identify potential security risks and recommend proactive solutions.
- Provide leadership and daily direction to full-time Building Security staff and a large team of Event Security personnel, including security contractors.
- Maintain a strong understanding of all emergency procedures, such as fire, medical, earthquake, etc.
- Maintain a strong threat risk assessment picture and implement mitigation strategies to departmental operations.
- Support the management and monitoring of security systems such as CCTV, access control, fire panels, radios, and key systems.
- Review incident reports, coordinate responses to critical situations, and communicate updates to key team members.
- Collaborate with Event Managers and clients to develop security plans for individual events.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with law enforcement agencies, including the Vancouver Police Department.
- Conduct pre-event and in-event site inspections to monitor compliance and identify any risks.
- Participate in hiring and training department staff.
- Participate in FIFA related training and ensure standards are upheld by team members.
- Oversee 24/7 Stadium Control Room protocols and partner with Facility Operations as needed.
- Administer the Collective Agreement and associated BC Place policies for the teams you supervise.
- Manage access control updates and oversee security levels.
- Coordinate the issuance and tracking of all keys for employees, contractors, and external partners.
- Conduct investigations into complaints and incidents.
- Manage timesheets, incident documentation, and eviction records following events.
- Liaise with FIFA Vancouver Safety & Security colleagues.
- Other FIFA related duties as assigned.
- Post-secondary education and training in Security or Law Enforcement, and Event Operations, or a combination of related experience and credentials.
- Valid Security Worker License.
- Minimum three years in a supervisory or management role, ideally in a large venue or similar environment.
- ICS training is an asset.
- Knowledge of BC Liquor Control Act, WorkSafeBC regulations, and health and safety practices.
- Experience in event security and crowd management.
- Experience working with Occupational Health & Safety Committees is an asset.
- Experience in a unionized environment and familiarity with collective agreements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; very comfortable with digital tools, social media and product creation.
- Experience using EBMS / Momentus or another event management system is an asset.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Strong people leader with notable experience in performance management.
- Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The salary range for this position is $85,000 – $95,000
- Offers will be in line with Pav Co’s internal pay equity and qualified candidate’s experience and education.
- You will earn 8% vacation pay on your earnings and will be paid out on each bi-weekly pay.
