Main Purpose and Function
The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation has Auxiliary seasonal opportunities for employment as a Cashier at Queen Elizabeth Pitch & Putt, Stanley Park Pitch & Putt & Rupert Park Pitch & Putt. The successful candidate must be able to work a variety of days and shifts including evenings and weekends. The Cashiers’ main responsibility will be for the delivery of exceptional customer service to our golf patrons.
Cashiers at the Pitch and Putts will be responsible for club rentals, selling foodand beverage, and selling tee times.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Cashiering duties include customer service, payment processing (including credit cards) and making change, and ensuring accurate cash handling procedures are followed. Pitch & Putt Cashiers will be responsible for managing the line up of golfers and ensuring all safety and cash handling procedures are followed. The hours can range from 7:00 am to 10:30 pm. The successful candidate must be able to work a variety of days and shifts including morning, afternoon, evenings and weekends.
The successful candidate must be also available to work at multiple locations.
Please note that this position is an Auxiliary position which runs until October 2026, with the possibility of extension.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Completion of Grade 11 preferably supplemented by some cashier experienceExperience in serving food and beverages and working in an outdoor environment is preferredExperience working in a similar unionized Food and Beverage team environment is an assetFood Safe Certification is preferredServing it Right Certification is an assetKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Some knowledge of cashiering and retail sales methods and practicesSome knowledge of basic food preparation, serving duties, and health standards and regulationsKnowledge or previous experience in a Golf Course Environment preferredPrevious hospitality experience including customer service, POS experience, stocking, and inventory an assetAbility to receive payments and make change accurately and promptlyAbility to use computer software applications related to cashiering, program registration and membershipsAbility to perform applicable food service and preparation and/or retail sales tasksAbility to work independently and in a team environment.Ability to deal courteously with the publicAbility to maintain minor clerical recordsAbility to lift a minimum of 20kgBusiness Unit/Department
