Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: ATLAS Student Research Assistant (On-site)
Come join us to see how we are working to unlock the mysteries of the universe and shape the future. Apply now and be part of our extraordinary journey.

Learn more about the amazing research and work we do  Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, Switzerland smashes together protons to produce new particles that tell us about the fundamental nature of the universe. These collisions are spectacular, producing hundreds of particles that are recorded by the ATLAS detector. Incredibly rarely, the collisions will result in the production of two Higgs bosons in one collision.

How often these rare events occur, and their properties, can tell us about the nature of the Higgs potential which gives all particles mass and breaks electroweak symmetry. This co-op will explore properties of Higgs pair production in the all-hadronic final state, with an eye to utilizing new data recorded by the ATLAS detector via new triggers in the  data-taking.
** Responsibilities:
** The selected candidate will take part in an international team analyzing simulated and real ATLAS data to search for Higgs pair production. They will utilize common ATLAS software to produce data and design to their own software to analyze and produce results. The work will be regularly report via presentations to internal TRIUMF meetings as well as international ATLAS meetings, and all code will be documented in git for future use.
** Skills learned:
** The student will be working as a part of the TRIUMF team working on the ATLAS collaboration, and will be exposed to the wide variety of detector and physics projects ongoing in the collaboration. This exciting environment is a great entry-point to understanding the daily workings of modern particle physics experiments.

The student will also be required to make presentations to local and international collaborators, and will learn effective scientific communication and collaboration techniques.
