This position is 30% Full Time Equivalent (FTE). The expected salary range is $20,679.60 - $25,987.50/year based on 12 hours per week.
The Department of Forest Resources Management, UBC-Vancouver campus seeks a part-time
** Research Associate (30%)
** to undertake research into species responses to silviculture and fire modelling across Canadian Forested systems.
Responsibilities include:
* undertaking a literature review on species responses to fire
* review responses to fire of key species across Canada,
* compare modelling approaches and techniques to assess changes in growth pre and post fire, and
* prepare results for high-quality peer reviewed journal.
** Qualifications required
** Candidates must have a Ph.D. and 5 years postdoctoral research experience in the fields of forest ecology, silviculture, and climate assessments. Candidates should have demonstrated expertise in undertaking reviews and modelling responses of trees to climate and fire. Candidates should have a strong publication record in the last 7 years and have good knowledge of statistical modelling techniques. Other requirements for successful applicants include excellent oral communication skills, the ability to work in a dynamic research team, and the ability to work on a project with defined milestones and timelines.

Anticipated start date will be April 1, 2026 for one year with possibility of extension subject to grant funding availability.
