Job SummaryThe Research Coordinator provides complex technical and administrative support to two CIHR-funded research programs: the Action
ADE research program and the Canadian Emergency Department Research Network (CEDRN). The role supports qualitative and quantitative research activities, stakeholder engagement, and network-wide communications.
The position is responsible for coordinating research documentation, supporting ethics and grant submissions, conducting qualitative analyses under supervision, managing day-to-day program operations, and leading communications and knowledge translation activities. The Research Coordinator plans and schedules assigned work independently under general supervision and reports to the Principal Investigator (PI).

ADE and CEDRN are CIHR-funded research programs led by Dr. Corinne Hohl RN is a pan‑Canadian emergency medicine research network that supports multi‑centre research, quality improvement, and surveillance initiatives across more than 60 emergency department sites nationwide. The network fosters collaboration, accelerates research and innovation, and supports inclusive participation to improve patient outcomes and inform healthcare policy and operations.
Action
ADE is a health information technology initiative focused on improving documentation and communication of adverse drug events (ADEs). Implemented in hospitals within Vancouver Coastal Health, the program evaluates the impact of electronic ADE communication across care settings using a randomized controlled trial design, alongside qualitative implementation evaluations. The Research Coordinator works under general supervision, receiving direction on new assignments and complex issues while independently organizing and prioritizing ongoing work.
Performed Research and Evaluation
- Maintains, verifies, and updates research study documentation, data collection tools, and databases.
- Supports the preparation and submission of grant applications, ethics applications, data access requests, and publication materials.
- Assists with qualitative data collection activities (e.g., interviews, focus groups), including coordinating participant engagement.
- Conducts literature reviews and content analyses.
- Conducts qualitative analyses and/or mixed methods evaluations under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI).
- Ensures all research activities are performed in accordance with Ethical and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
- Prepares reports and research outputs for dissemination.
- Monitors study timelines and identifies and troubleshoots delays.
- Manages day‑to‑day research operations of the Action
ADE program. - Liaises with site champions, clinical leads, and healthcare professionals (physicians, nurses, pharmacists).
- Engages with patient partners and individuals with lived/living experience.
- Provides administrative and coordination support to the CEDRN Indigenous Advisory Committee, including organizing meetings, preparing materials, recording minutes, and supporting follow‑up activities.
- Travels to hospital sites within the Lower Mainland, BC to conduct engagement and research‑related activities.
