The UBC Biodiversity Research Centre invites applications for two 2‑year postdoctoral positions (2026‑2028). One position will prioritize experience in bioinformatics; the other is open to a broader range of expertise in biodiversity science.

Salary
: $77,000 per year plus benefits (including extended health and dental coverage)
Research Funds
: $7,000 per year
- Conduct original research on core problems in biodiversity, including ecology, evolution, systematics, and conservation.
- Foster interactions within the Centre and take a leadership role in Centre activities (annual retreat committee, weekly internal seminar, discussion groups).
- Collaborate with multiple lab groups and support graduate students with aligned research interests.
- Potentially assist in teaching an annual bioinformatics workshop, if compatible with the applicant’s expertise.
- Ph.D. in ecology, evolution, or a related field completed or expected to be completed before the start date.
- Solid scientific background evidenced by a strong publication record and a research statement.
- Experience with data science methods such as high‑performance computing, data management, and programming in R.
- Within 5 years of Ph.D. completion (allowances for career interruptions due to personal circumstances).
The search committee will assess candidates based on the quality of research accomplishments to date, the novelty and potential impact of the proposed research, and the candidate’s potential to play a leadership role in the community, including ethical professional conduct.
