** About the Position:
** The Laboratory Analyst will work independently and as part of a team to accomplish a variety of lab tasks, including analyses, lab maintenance, and generating data.
** Specific Responsibilities
*** Analysis of semi-volatile parameters using GCMS. Acquisition and calculations are performed using GCMS Chemstation and Target softwares;
* Analysis of volatile parameters using headspace GCMS. Acquisition and calculations are performed using GCMS Chemstation, Target, and Chrom Perfect softwares;
* Daily tasks will include GC maintenance and basic troubleshooting;
* Extractions in the lab, as needed;
* Work-scheduling for a particular instrument or analytical method – includes the use of Webview;
* Prepare all required reagents, standards, reference materials, etc.;
* Carry out all required data processing (i.e. calculations, data review, data entry, archival, etc. Including the use of ALSTools and Seedpak);
* Perform all required quality control procedures;
* Carry out all required record-keeping & documentation;
* Communicate with the Client Services staff as required;
* Deliver accurate results to our clients in a timely manner;
* Technical decision making for non-routine, complex analyses or matrices;
* Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and adhere to strict QA/QC requirements;
* Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
* Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
* Other duties as assigned.
** Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
*** Good English communication skills (auditory, verbal, written, and reading) as required;
* Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) at an intermediate level;
* Excellent computer skills;
* Accurate and efficient data entry skills;
* Capability to perform repetitive tasks correctly in a fast-paced environment;
* Good organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines such as Turnaround Times (TAT) and holding requirements;
* Analytical and process oriented skills with the ability to critically think in ambiguous situations;
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
* A strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required;
* A commitment to excellence and a client-focused attitude.
** Required Qualifications
*** Completion of

B.Sc. or Technical Diploma in Chemistry or a related discipline (required);
* 2-3 years’ experience in an analytical laboratory (required);
* Minimum 1 year previous experience with GC, GCMS, ICP, and ICP-MS instrumentation (required).
** Physical Demands
*** Ability to lift up to 30 lbs./14 kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances;
* Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
* Ability to climb stairs;
* Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required.
* Ability to stand for up to a full shift;
* Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;
* You may be exposed to unpleasant fumes;
* Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.
