Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, Development Events, the intern will be exposed to a variety of tasks essential to the success of the development (fundraising) department at Canada’s top think tank. The role will provide hands-on experience supporting the planning and execution of the Fraser Institute’s nationally recognized fundraising events. These projects will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing support for the planning and execution of major development events (Founders’ Award galas, executive retreats, AGM and other high-profile donor events).
- Assisting with the planning and execution of smaller development events (roundtable donor dinners, regional luncheons etc.).
- Assisting with creating and maintaining event-marketing lists, ensuring they are up to date for campaigns and correspondence.
- Updating event marketing materials – summaries, flyers, emails, invitations, banners, websites.
- Research and identify new opportunities for event marketing, outreach, and audience development.
- Help conduct follow-up campaigns for event invitations and securing ticket and table sales for events as needed.
- Complete data collection by reporting on deliverables i.e. tracking revenue and registrations.
- Depending on performance and departmental needs, there may be an opportunity for the internship to extend into the fall on a part-time basis to assist with the Fraser Institute’s gala season.
Candidate
Qualifications:
- Positive, detail-oriented, and customer-focused with strong multitasking and organizational skills under tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated team player with initiative and ownership.
- Experience with corporate, professional, or VIP event organization preferred.
- Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (mail merges, reports, etc.).
- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Professional demeanor, confident in email and phone solicitation with donors.
- Enrolled in or completed a degree in Marketing, Events/Hospitality, Communications, Fundraising, Business, or related fields.
- Familiarity with Graphic design programs such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) or Canva preferred.
- Experience working with event fundraising software including Cvent and Salesforce is considered an asset but not required.
$2900/month
