PGMBC Hiring English Ministry Pastor

We are seeking a full-time English Ministry Pastor to direct the ministry and shepherd our English congregation. Our mission is to be a grace-filled, grace-extending, Christ-treasuring community of faith. As per our vision, we see ourselves as missional followers of Jesus Christ; we strive to influence our communities by embracing and serving our neighbors. We care deeply about authentic faith, meaningful relationships, and forming disciples who follow Jesus in everyday life.

Pacific Grace MB Church comprises the Cantonese, Mandarin and English Congregations. The English Pastor is answerable to the Senior Pastor who oversees the entire church and develops the pastoral and staff team to serve the whole flock. To work well in this cross-cultural environment, intercultural communication skills and some understanding of the immigrant family will be definite assets. Besides, candidates must have formal education from a seminary or bible college and experience of pastoring in an actual church setting is essential.

For a candidate not yet MB-credentialed, whose willingness to comply and go through the credentialing process is to be demonstrated within the first two years of service.

What Type of English Pastor Are We Seeking? Character Qualities
  • Who desires deepening authentic relationships with God, His people, and the community outside
  • Who is biblically rooted, walks in godliness, Holy Spirit empowered, devoted to prayer, committed to continual personal growth – professionally and spiritually
  • Whose humble dependence is on God
  • Who demonstrates integrity, transparency, accountability, courage, and the power of vision
  • Who is organized, self‑motivated, creative, innovative, and able to lead with wisdom, humility, flexibility, and example
Competencies and Skills
  • Cast vision and build momentum for spiritual growth and connection with the community
  • Lead and develop our various ministry teams by coaching and supporting leaders and raising new leaders
  • Understand and has sensitivity toward the cultural background of English‑speaking 2nd generation of immigrants
  • Provide strong Sunday School teaching and encourage Scripture‑based conversation
  • Develop fellowship meetings and/or life group gatherings weekly to foster spiritual growth
  • Oversee a healthy, volunteer‑driven care ministry that reflects Christ‑centred compassion
  • Develop and lead training classes and equip God’s people to serve, to share the gospel, and to disciple the church as well as the unchurched
  • Be present and engaged during the work week in the life of the church, but also when situations arise to call for special attention during odd hours and/or days
Leadership Style
  • Whose leadership inspires others to serve alongside
  • Who enjoys a teamwork environment, i.e., collaboratively, not only within the English‑speaking congregation but also across the wider spectrum to the other two language‑specific congregations
  • Who can give direction with a balance of sensitivity and exertion not inappropriate
  • Who oversees the worship service of the English congregation through prayer, planning, preaching, and administering the Holy Communion
  • Who adopts an equipping leadership style – identify, recruit, and develop lay leaders by encouraging and equipping them to serve in their areas of giftedness
  • Who appreciates and further nurtures PG’s pastor‑led, volunteer‑powered church culture
Preferred Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • A master’s degree in divinity from an accredited theological seminary/bible college
  • 3 years of experience in church ministry or equivalent
  • Alignment with the mission, vision, and theological values of PGMBC
  • Language – fluent in oral and written English; working knowledge of Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an asset but not a requirement
  • Willing to obtain credentials from the Mennonite Brethren Conference within the first two years of service

Annual Salary Range: $60,000 – $75,000, subject to relevant experience

If you are passionate about the gospel and helping people grow in Christ, value authentic relationships, and thrive on mission, we would love to connect with you.
