Executive Director
Louis Brier Jewish Aged Foundation (LBJAF)
Vancouver, British Columbia | Full-time

About the Foundation
The Louis Brier Jewish Aged Foundation advances excellence in elder care by supporting the Louis Brier Home and Hospital and the Weinberg Residence, the only Jewish long-term care and assisted living communities in British Columbia. Through philanthropy, stewardship, and community partnership, the Foundation ensures that seniors receive high-quality care within a culturally Jewish, values-based environment.

The Opportunity
The Louis Brier Jewish Aged Foundation is seeking an accomplished and relationship-driven Executive Director to lead its philanthropic strategy and operations. This position is comparable to a Chief Development Officer–level role in a healthcare foundation, combining enterprise fundraising leadership with operational accountability and close Board partnership. The Executive Director will play a central role in positioning the Foundation for sustained growth and long-term impact.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead the Foundation’s overall strategy, performance, and organizational effectiveness in alignment with its mission and values.

• Develop and execute a multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with priority operating and capital needs of the Louis Brier Home and Hospital and the Weinberg Residence.

• Serve as the primary senior executive supporting the Board, providing clear recommendations, performance reporting, and strategic insight.

Fund Development and Major Gifts

• Lead a diversified fundraising portfolio including major gifts, planned giving, annual giving, corporate and foundation support, community fundraising, and special events.

• Personally manage a portfolio of senior donors and prospects, with a strong emphasis on relationship-based philanthropy and five-, six-, and seven-figure gifts.

• Guide the development of compelling cases for support, donor proposals, and customized stewardship strategies.

• Build and monitor a robust donor pipeline using data, dashboards, and performance metrics.

Donor Relations, Stewardship, and Community Presence

• Act as a visible and trusted ambassador for the Foundation within the Jewish community and the broader philanthropic and healthcare sectors.

• Ensure donor experiences reflect professionalism, gratitude, transparency, and cultural sensitivity.

• Oversee donor communications, recognition, and impact reporting to strengthen long-term engagement and trust.

Board Partnership and Governance

• Work closely with the Board Chair and committees to advance governance, fundraising leadership, and accountability.

• Support Board members in their roles as ambassadors and philanthropic partners.

• Prepare high-quality materials for Board and committee meetings, including fundraising performance, risk, and opportunity analysis.

Partnership with Care Organizations

• Collaborate closely with senior leadership at the Louis Brier Home and Hospital and the Weinberg Residence to align fundraising priorities with organizational needs.

• Translate clinical, operational, and capital priorities into clear, fundable opportunities for donors.

• Strengthen and maintain the relationship between the Foundation and the care organizations through regular communication and shared planning.

Financial Stewardship and Operations

• Oversee Foundation budgeting, financial planning, and internal controls in collaboration with finance professionals.

• Ensure accurate management and reporting of restricted and unrestricted funds, endowments, and donor-directed gifts.

• Ensure disbursement of funds is transparent, timely, Board-approved, and aligned with donor intent.

• Oversee Foundation operations, systems, vendors, and staff/contractors to ensure efficiency and accountability.
