** Job Summary
** The Communications coordinator is responsible for developing, managing, and executing all communication, marketing, and outreach strategies to enhance the reputation, engagement, relationships, and profile of programs and initiatives within the UBC Department of Urologic Sciences (DUS) and the Mohseni Institute for Urologic Sciences (MIUS) at the local, provincial, national, and international levels. This position supports both DUS and MIUS in achieving their strategic goals through integrated communications planning and execution.
The Communications coordinator works to generate appropriate communication strategies, and executes a wide-range of communications and marketing campaigns and materials by liaising with faculty, staff, and trainees. This role leads communications projects for both the Department and the Institute and collaborates with internal and external partners to implement both department-wide and program-specific strategies through a variety of print, web, video, and digital/social media projects.
The incumbent will be able to move seamlessly between communications strategy, high impact marketing projects, and integrated communications, all while building a strong community through the Department’s communication channels.

** Organizational Status
** The UBC Department of Urologic Sciences and the Mohseni Institute for Urologic Sciences are recognized for excellence in urologic research, education, and clinical care.
The Communications coordinator reports to both the Administrative Manager (UBC DUS) and HR and Operations Manager (MIUS) and works closely with the Department Head, Institute Director and leadership, faculty, and centre leads. The role also collaborates with the Faculty of Medicine Communications team, UBC Brand & Marketing, and Media Relations. Additionally, this role will also liaise and connect with Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute (VCHRI).
They will interact with faculty, staff, and trainees, throughout the Department, Institute and with external stakeholders.
** Work Performed
*** Lead communications and marketing initiatives for DUS and MIUS, including supporting departmental/institute strategic planning processes, execution, report compiling and evaluation.
* Develop and manage robust and creative social media strategies and content calendars.
* Produce and curate multimedia content including stories, newsletters, videos, and promotional materials.
* Track information and create annual reports for DUS, MIUS and the Vancouver Prostate Centre (VPC).
* Lead the creation, design, and distribution of regular newsletters to internal and external audiences.
* Develop and implement integrated communication plans that support the strategic goals of both units.
* Create and manage project timelines, budgets, and post-project evaluations.
* Ensure alignment with UBC and Faculty of Medicine branding and messaging standards.
* Ensure alignment and adherence to VCHRI policies and guidelines.
* Develop web content and maintenance for both units.
* Build relationships with faculty, staff, and trainees to source and share impactful stories.
* Promote research, education, and community impact initiatives.
