Produce Quality and Ripening Specialist

As one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, we are a driven organization that is looking for a team-oriented full-time Produce Quality and Ripening Specialist ("Ripening Specialist") to join our team! As a member of our Operations Team, you will use independent judgment and discretion to manage and oversee our in-house ripening program.

The Ripening Specialist will be responsible for ensuring optimal ripening conditions for our produce, monitoring quality, and coordinating ripening schedules to meet customer specifications and delivery timelines.

• Operate computer-controlled pressurized ripening rooms
• Monitor the product ripening process
• Manage cooler product placement & control for ripened/un-ripened products
• Ensure accurate documentation of ripening logs, inventory movements, and all necessary data
• Product rotation via FIFO
• Reporting to the Facility Manager regarding special ripening processes/lines
• Assist with order packing
• Maintenance of all ripening equipment & materials
• Ensure all food safety, work safety procedures, policies, and regulations are followed
• Help keep the warehouse clean and tidy

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience receiving fresh produce
• Knowledge of ethylene applications, temperature and humidity control is an asset
• Solid communicator and team player
• Good product knowledge of local & imported produce items
• Knowledge and ability to carry out all workplace safety precautions
• Power jacks & Forklift licenses are an asset

• Work performed in temperature-controlled environments (ripening rooms, coolers)
• Lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs
