Job Description & How to Apply Below

Creative BC is looking for a Manager, Industry + Community Affairs to support how filming operates in communities across British Columbia. The role addresses issues that arise when productions work on location, balancing immediate production-related concerns with longer-term system improvements. The Manager brings together production teams, municipalities, and community stakeholders to resolve challenges, improve coordination, and strengthen how filming is managed across the province.

Some matters are time-sensitive and tied to active productions. Others require strategic follow-up, identifying patterns, and recommending practical policy or process updates that improve consistency over time. The Manager leads a small team while staying closely connected to the work. Success depends on understanding both the pace of production and the community experience, and translating that insight into clear, sustainable solutions.

This role suits someone who values strong relationships, understands production realities, and is ready to apply that experience in a broader provincial context.

  • Convene and facilitate provincial and municipal working groups that develop industry guidance and policy recommendations to support clearer guidelines and more streamlined permitting processes.
  • Serve as a senior point of contact when issues escalated, working with production representatives, municipalities, and community stakeholders to assess impacts and support resolution.
  • Provide clear leadership and accountability for team performance, including setting expectations, managing performance, and supporting development.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of filming guidelines, municipal coordination tools, and community-facing resources.
  • Ensure accurate tracking and documentation of issues, stakeholders, and trends to support planning, risk awareness, and informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to align responses, share insights, and identify opportunities to improve coordination and practices over time.
Experience + Fit
  • Have experience working in the screen industry, municipal liaison, government relations, or community affairs, with a solid understanding of how productions operate in practice.
  • Have formal people-management experience and are comfortable setting expectations, managing performance, and supporting employee development.
  • Are confident navigating complex or sensitive situations involving multiple stakeholders and competing interests.
  • Are comfortable working within established processes, documentation standards, and shared decision-making environments.
  • Bring strong judgment, discretion, and problem-solving skills to your work.
