Manager, Clinical Operations

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Manager, Clinical Operations to join the Vancouver Community Direct Long Term Care Team. The role is full‑time, mid‑senior level.

Salary range: CAD $59.59/Hr. – CAD $85.65/Hr.

Job Overview

As a Manager, Clinical Operations with VCH you will provide clinical and operational leadership to a frontline clinical patient care department or health program, directly supervising staff at the Level 4 or 5 classification/wage rate, and managing multidisciplinary teams in an acute or community‑based setting. You will lead operations management, planning and evaluation of services related to utilization, risk management and quality improvement, ensuring a smooth transition from acute care to community health services, and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical and operational leadership to a frontline clinical patient care department or health program that directly supervises, at a minimum, Nurses at the Level 4 or 5 classification/wage rate.
  • Directly supervise multidisciplinary teams in an acute and/or community‑based setting.
  • Lead operations management, planning, implementation and evaluation of services and activities related to utilization and risk management, and quality improvement of the clinical program/department.
  • Address ongoing issues and needs of clients and their families, ensuring a smooth transition from acute care to appropriate community health services.
  • Lead an inter‑disciplinary team, collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders, and promote client and family centred care within a complex multi‑site environment.
Education & Experience
  • Baccalaureate (Masters preferred) in a relevant clinical professional area with 7‑10 years of recent, related clinical and progressive leadership experience, including direct supervisory experience.
  • Current registration or membership with a recognized professional association.
  • Basic computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets and/or database programs and ability to use a computerized patient care information system.
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop, manage and evaluate clinical programs considering client needs and service delivery relationships.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external partners, promoting services with sensitivity to diversity and an Indigenous lens.
  • Practice recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement.
  • Understand available resources for the program/department and keep quality in the forefront of all resource utilization decisions, providing feedback and detailed analysis on budget variances and recommendations for corrective action.
  • Facilitate, collaborate and negotiate effective resolution of human resource issues.
  • Foster collaborative working relationships to support professional practice and ongoing staff development.
  • Promote development of clinical research opportunities to ensure evidence‑based practice within an interdisciplinary team‑based environment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
