This position manages the Student Housing and Community Services (SHCS) tool crib and store keeping functions, including tracking, sourcing, receiving, storing, repairing, and distribution of tools, equipment and supplies. The role supports inventory control, provides expertise, arranges tools and supplies, and maintains data and invoicing processes in collaboration with SHCS units and colleagues.
Work Performed- Receives deliveries using forklift, pallet-jacks or by hand, checks items against purchase orders and request forms, and stores items in designated areas.
- Inspects tools for damage, performs preventive maintenance repairs, and arranges repairs or replacements as needed.
- Provides training to borrowers on proper handling and operation of tools, equipment, furniture and supplies.
- Supports inventory and stock control systems, maintains records of stock issues, checks inventory regularly, and initiates requests for goods and payment.
- Identifies needs for stock replenishment, selects recommendations, and maintains the operational recycling program.
- Assists with training, forklift recertification, and safety checks, ensuring compliance with safety standards and policies.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- High school graduation and a minimum five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of tools and equipment of various trades.
- Valid class 5 BC Drivers’ License.
- Willingness to respect diverse perspectives and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- High school graduation and APICS certification or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and handle stock in a warehouse environment.
- Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting, standing, and operating forklifts.
- Proficiency in Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid BC driver’s license, forklift operation certification, WHMIS, and clean abstract.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Capacity to lift two‑handed 50 lbs and push/pull two‑handed up to 30 kg of force.
