The Society of Notaries Public of BC, Vancouver
  • Closing Date: February 23, 2026
  • Job :2347
  • Salary Range: $180,000 - $230,000
Job Description

The Society of Notaries Public of British Columbia (SNPBC) is the professional regulatory body responsible for overseeing the practice of Notaries Public in the province. Notaries in BC are highly trained legal professionals whose work focuses on non-contentious legal services and important wills, personal planning, and real-estate transactions. The Society supports high standards of practice, protects the public interest, and ensures that Notaries operate with integrity, professionalism, and accountability.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director & CEO (ED) provides overall strategic and operational leadership for the Society, overseeing the administration of the organization, including registration, inquiries, standards of practice, quality assurance, complaints, discipline, financial management, policy development, and government relations. The ED also plays an active leadership role in preparing the profession and the organization for the transition to Legal Professions BC.

These are pivotal and evolving times for the Notary profession in British Columbia. With the passing of Bill 21 – the Legal Professions Act, work is underway to establish Legal Professions BC, the future regulator for Notaries Public, lawyers, paralegals, and other prescribed legal service providers. While timing is uncertain, upon amalgamation with the law society, the Society will cease. Therefore, SNPBC is looking for a unique individual who can support the organization through this transformational period, upholding the high standards of members and protecting the public interest, while engaging the new reality.

As the ideal candidate, you are a values-based, strategic, and credible regulatory leader who brings experience navigating complex organizational environments, ideally within a professional regulatory or legal services context. You demonstrate sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage effectively with the Board, licensees, staff, government partners, and external agencies.

Given the Society’s statutory responsibilities and upcoming regulatory transition, candidates must be adaptable, resilient, and skilled at negotiating and leading through change, ambiguity, and evolving governance structures.

The targeted salary range for this position is $180,000 - $230,000 annually, supplemented by a competitive total rewards package.
