As a Senior UX & UI Designer
, you will focus on generating human-centered experiences with a strong emphasis on interaction and visual design. Reporting to the Lead UX Designer, you will generate and implement user-centric solutions while working collaboratively with Artists, Engineers, Live Ops, Game Design, Production, Product Management, and UX Design across various product areas. You are highly organized, self-motivated, and an excellent communicator who can effortlessly move between high and low-level problems.
You have an inherent desire to understand players and to represent them in our games.
This role is a full-time, on-site position based 5 days a week at our Downtown Vancouver studio.
In this role, you can expect to:- Key Accountabilities:
- End-to-end ownership of the user experience of key game features.
- Define goals, requirements, and evaluate their impact on the project and users.
- Engages in and leads conversations with stakeholders to communicate design solutions.
- Works closely with the Product Owner, the Team, and other cross-functional Teams (Marketers, User Researchers, and Data Analysts) to deliver a unique and strong user experience.
- Delivery of user flows, low and high-fidelity wireframes, documentation, and presentations.
- Delivery of interaction and visual designs.
- Delivery and refinement of designs in engine.
- Supports the team-lead by delegating work, assisting other team-members and disciplines when required, and contributing to scheduling and capacity planning.
- Mentors other UX designers, promoting collaboration, and helping with any extra workload.
- Proactively finds ways to improve games and processes.
- Learns and shares best practices with the team.
- Education background in Interaction Design, HCI, Psychology, or a design related field with Human Factors.
- An exceptional portfolio demonstrating effective solutions for human-centered design challenges and visual design problems.
- 6+ years of experience as a UI and/or UX Designer or Product Designer in a professional capacity. Preferably within video games.
- An expert level of expertise in using design tools commonly used in the industry, including Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, Photoshop, and others.
- Skilled with Figma, the Adobe Suite, and prototyping software.
- Understanding the principal knowledge of target players or user needs, motivations, behaviors, and constraints.
- The ability to solve complex problems in resourceful and effective ways, with human-centered design in mind.
- Experience with Inclusive Design and advocacy.
- Exceptional eye for visual design.
- Ability to own multiple features.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Self-starter and excellent prioritizing skills.
- Experience with Unity is a major plus.
- Ability to translate product KPIs into UX deliverables.
- Experience with data-driven design (quantitative).
- Experience in user research.
- Experience working on free-to-play games.
