The Human Resources Assistant provides reliable administrative and coordination support to the Human Resources Department within a unionized healthcare environment. This entry-level role is well suited to a highly organized individual with strong administrative and communication skills who is interested in developing a career in Human Resources. The position supports day-to-day HR operations and serves as an initial point of contact for employees, requiring professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
HRAdministration & Records Management
Organize, compile, maintain, and update employee records in both electronic and hard-copy formats
Accurately process HR documentation related to recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, and employee status changes
Maintain data integrity within the HRIS, including personnel files, training records, safety documentation, and compliance tracking
Support filing standards, document control, and record retention requirements in a healthcare setting
Employee Communications and SupportAct as the first point of contact for routine HR inquiries, providing general information or directing staff to appropriate HR team members
Communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully with employees and internal stakeholders
Schedule meetings, interviews, and HR-related appointments
Qualifications- Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Management, Human Resources, Criminology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated administrative experience
- Strong administrative skills demonstrated through previous work, or practicum
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
- Experience in a unionized healthcare or community services environment is an asset
- Familiarity with collective agreements is an asset
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Working knowledge of an HRIS and/or Learning Management System (LMS) is an asset
- Ability to clear a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector screening
- This a temporary position to mid-June 2026.
- The wage for this role will be between $25 to $30 per hour based on a 35 hour work week.
