Position: People Business Partner

Overview

We’re seeking People Business Partners (PBPs) to join Clio’s growing People team and support leaders and teams across the business. This role is ideal for a thoughtful, business-minded People partner who brings strong fundamentals across core HR disciplines and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Business Partnership & Leader Enablement

  • Partner with leaders to deliver People programs and services that support departmental and company-wide goals.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and coach to leaders, providing insights and recommendations on people-related topics.
  • Support leaders through day-to-day people matters while maintaining a strong focus on long-term organizational health.
  • Build strong, credible relationships across your assigned client groups.

People Strategy, Performance & Talent Support

  • Advise leaders on organizational design, role clarity, team structure, and workforce planning.
  • Support performance management processes, including goal-setting, feedback, and development planning.
  • Partner with leaders on engagement, succession planning, and talent development conversations.
  • Provide guidance on compensation principles and Total Rewards programs in partnership with the appropriate SMEs.

Employee Relations, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Identify and manage employee relations issues and investigations, partnering with People SMEs and Legal as required.
  • Apply sound judgment to resolve matters fairly, consistently, and in line with employment legislation and Clio policy.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment legal requirements and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Support leaders with documentation, process adherence, and risk mitigation.

People Programs & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with People team SMEs to deliver a seamless, end-to-end employee experience.
  • Contribute to the design, rollout, and adoption of People programs such as:
    • Onboarding
    • Performance Development
    • Talent Planning
    • Leadership Development
    • Total Compensation
    • Workforce Planning
  • Partner closely with Talent Acquisition to align hiring needs, workforce plans, and role requirements.

Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure People process and documentation compliance across your client groups.
  • Enhance and streamline people-related information to improve accessibility and enable employee and manager self-service.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and help evolve Clio’s people infrastructure and core processes.
  • Lead low to medium risk, cross-functional People projects as needed.

Data, Insights & Decision-Making

  • Use people data and insights to identify trends related to engagement, performance, retention, and workforce health.
  • Provide leaders with clear, actionable recommendations based on both data and context.
  • Support reporting and analysis that informs proactive, strategic people decisions.

Collaboration, Influence & Team Contribution

  • Cultivate strong cross-functional relationships to ensure the needs of the People team, leaders, and employees are met.
  • Partner effectively with peers across the People Business Partner team, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing People team culture.
  • Travel as required to support business needs and in-person connection.
Qualifications
  • 5–8+ years of progressive HR / People Business Partner experience.
  • Experience supporting leaders across one or more functional areas (e.g., Product, Engineering, GTM, G&A).
  • Solid knowledge across core People disciplines, including employee relations, performance management, and organizational design.
  • Strong understanding of employment law and compliance requirements.
  • Comfort partnering with multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities.
  • Data-informed mindset with the ability to translate insights into action.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • High integrity, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach.
  • Demonstrated interest in elevating your craft using AI.
