Overview
The salary range for this position is CAD $49.20/Hr.
- CAD $63.47/Hr. We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Educator, Wound, Ostomy & Skin Continence to support excellence in patient care through education, clinical expertise, and evidence-based practice! Reporting to the Patient Care Manager and working in collaboration with the Chief of Professional Practice and Nursing or designate.
- Provide consultation and education in wound, ostomy, and continence care.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Nurse Specialist and interdisciplinary team members.
- Work with Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence (NSWOC) across BC to support consistent, standards-based care.
- Develop, plan, implement, and evaluate education programs for staff.
- Promote evidence-based clinical interventions in client care planning.
- Build staff capacity and competence in wound, ostomy, and continence care.
- Support quality improvement and best practices across care sites.
- Travel between PHC sites using personal vehicle or shuttle service as required.
- Regular local travel is required, especially for roles supporting Residential sites.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives
- Two (2) years recent, related advanced wound/ostomy/continence care experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Successful completion of the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Institute of Canada (NSWOCC)-Wound, Ostomy, Continence-Education Program (WOC-EP) or the Wound, Ostomy Continence Nurse Certificate (WOCN)
- Ability to teach, coach, lead groups, provide clinical support, identify learning needs, and develop educational programs and resource/educational materials using adult education principles.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform CPR procedures appropriate to the clinical area, along with comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client- and family-centred model of care, evidence-based nursing practice for the designated clinical area, BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice, and the roles of other health disciplines.
- Broad knowledge of research processes and methodology, and the ability to apply analytical and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team, communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, provide leadership and work direction, and role model conflict resolution strategies.
- Strong ability to prioritize and organize work independently, adjust to new or unexpected events, operate related equipment including computers, and meet the physical demands of the position.

- Provide clinical consultation for complex wound and ostomy care by assessing clients, reviewing charts, and collaborating with the care team
- Deliver direct patient care using advanced nursing skills within the specialty area
- Plan, implement, and evaluate education programs based on staff learning needs and clinical priorities
- Promote evidence-based practice by integrating research into policies, procedures, and education materials
- Act as a clinical resource by mentoring staff, role modeling best practices, and supporting complex case discussions
- Review and recommend updates to clinical policies, procedures, and reference materials
- Participate in research activities and contribute to quality improvement initiatives related to wound and ostomy care
- Support risk management by identifying practice gaps and recommending corrective actions or policy changes
