Compensation: $28.00 to $38.00 per hour, depending on experience
The Vancouver Animal Emergency and Referral Centre is an established, cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary facility located in the heart of Metro Vancouver. We have been providing emergency care in this community since 1978 and specialty services since 2015. In addition to Emergency care, we provide Internal Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Radiology, Critical Care and Oncology services.
Our Emergency Service is welcoming enthusiastic, highly motivated Registered Veterinary Technologists (RVTs) to join our ever-growing team.
Our Emergency RVTs will use their technical skills to the fullest and are given the necessary tools and resources to be successful in pursuing one or multiple passions within our hospital.
Schedule: As the Emergency Service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, this position will include shifts in the daytime, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holiday shifts. Shifts are typically 12 hours in length, 3 shifts/week.
You will have opportunities to expand your learning through extensive exposure and involvement in various cases. Additional qualifications and attributes you must embrace to be successful in this role;
Responsibilities- Registered Veterinary Technician, RVT or eligible to register
- Confident team player who can also work independently when required
- Excellent customer service skills; a real aptitude for putting pets and pet parents at ease and creating a welcoming environment
- Exceptional interpersonal skills in working with your colleagues and pet parents
- Ability to perform a variety of clinical procedures, including but not limited to: venipuncture, catheter placement, radiology, in-house lab work, anesthesia/sedation monitoring, patient assessment, and emergency triage
- Willing to further enhance technical skills and expertise
- Strong organizational skills and ability to keep accurate medical records
- Ability to thrive and provide a high level of care in an often fast-paced environment
- Ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and remain calm in stressful situations
- Ability to adapt to changing situations
