We are currently hiring a regular, full‑time, Cochlear Implant Audiologist to join the Audiology Team l's Hospital!
St. Paul’s hosts the BC Adult Cochlear Implant Program, the only adult cochlear implant centre in British Columbia. It provides the entire continuum of care: assessment, surgery, and long‑term rehabilitation, for adults with severe hearing loss who cannot benefit from hearing aids alone. Historically, the first cochlear implant in Canada was performed l's Hospital in 1982!
The Cochlear Implant Audiologist (CI Audiologist)- Works with the Coordinator of the BC Adult Cochlear Implant Program and reports to the Professional Practice Leader.
- Works as part of an interdisciplinary team to assess candidacy for cochlear implant services, intra‑operative monitoring, post‑implantation monitoring and follow‑up services to patients. Performs hearing assessments and audio logic test battery specific to patient’s presenting problems.
- Reports findings, consults with referring physicians and the Professional Practice Leader – Audiology regarding intervention options for individual patients.
- The CI Audiologist provides information to team members and relevant community agencies regarding the continuum of service.
- Consults, reports, advocates, and liaises with community agencies. Develops educational/training resources, program planning and performs research activities as required.
- Master's Degree in Audiology from a recognized program.
- Minimum of two (2) years recent and relevant post‑master's clinical experience specifically providing cochlear implant audiology services, including a minimum of one (1) year of extensive experience performing cochlear implant audiology services within an interdisciplinary team environment.
- Current registration as an Audiologist in the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC.
- Current and maintainedाचे Advanced Competency Certification in Cochlear Implant Management from the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the field of audiology, cochlear implantation, current implant devices and technology, and programming devices. li>Comprehensive knowledge of audiology assessment (including complex cases) as it relates to cochlear implantation.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing using effective, listening, probing and counseling techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to gather necessary information and explain technical information/results to individuals with varying levels of understanding.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively and work collaboratively in an interprofessional environment.
- Knowledge of research methodology and processes.
- Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate relevant scientific literature.
- Demonstrated initiative and self‑direction in pursuing professional development.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple activities and deadlines, and independently plan and prioritize duties in response to scream program and organizational demands.
- Ability to organize work.
- Demonstrated teaching skills to support audiology graduate student externships.
- Ability to use related equipment and software programs.
- Physical ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
