Who We Are
The College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC, or the College) is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. The College regulates over 12,000 health professionals across British Columbia, including chiropractors, massage therapists, naturopathic physicians, and traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and acupuncturists.
Formed on June 28, 2024, through the amalgamation of four provincial health profession regulators, the College was established as part of the Ministry of Health’s initiative to modernize the health profession regulatory framework in B.C. Its primary role is to protect public health and safety by licensing and regulating health professionals and the settings in which they practice. This includes ensuring that every health professional within its purview is fully qualified to provide safe and ethical care.
AboutThis Employment Opportunity
The College is seeking a knowledgeable and analytical professional for the part‑time role (15 hours per week, two full days) of Practice Advisor, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. This is a great opportunity for a regulated health professional with a strong understanding of ethics, professional standards, and regulatory compliance in TCM practice.
As a key member of the Quality Assurance team, the Practice Advisor will provide guidance and support to registrants and the public regarding practice‑related inquiries, ensuring adherence to professional and clinical standards, ethics, and applicable laws. This role also contributes to the development of regulatory policies, quality assurance programs, and resources to support registrants in maintaining compliance and delivering safe, ethical care.
This position is ideal for a collaborative and analytical professional with strong communication skills, a passion for regulatory excellence, and a commitment to public protection.
In support of the College’s public protection mandate, this role requires on‑site work in accordance with the team’s operational needs.
Supervisory and Reporting Responsibilities / Relationships- Reports to:
Manager, Quality Assurance and Practice - Direct Supervision: N/A
- Provide practice consultations to registrants as it relates to relevant legislation and the College’s standards and bylaws.
- Develop resources for registrants to support practice and regulatory compliance.
- Support the development of practice standards, policies and guidelines.
- Provide practice advisory support to other College regulatory departments and College committees, as required.
- Provide support to registrants in completing quality assurance requirements.
- Support the development and enhancement of the College’s quality assurance program.
- Maintain knowledge of the traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture profession, relevant legislation and practices in regulation, identifying trends, risks and best practices.
- Collaborate with regulators in BC and other jurisdictions to share best practices and develop common approaches to regulation.
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Quality Assurance and Practice.
- Post‑secondary education in traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture or another regulated health profession plus a minimum of five years’ practice experience in health care delivery.
- Experience in interpreting legislative requirements and identifying and analyzing the implications on internal policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of the Health Professions Act/Health Professions and Occupations Act and a demonstrated understanding of regulatory functions and related administrative law principles preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to anti‑discrimination and Indigenous‑specific anti‑racism in the healthcare system.
- Comfortable working in a continuously evolving regulatory and legislative environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of cloud computing systems and Microsoft Office suite (such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
