Reporting directly to the CFO, the Corporate Controller will own the full accounting and financial reporting function in a high-visibility, hands‑on role. Supported by a small, shared team, you will drive timely, accurate financials for our Blackrock Silver Corp., while building scalable processes as we transition into development. This is a newly created position ideal for a mining‑experienced CPA who thrives in a fast‑paced junior resource environment with outsourced elements of transactional work.
Key Responsibilities- Lead preparation of public company filings, including IFRS consolidated financial statements, MD&A, Annual Information Form (AIF), and Management Information Circular.
- Own month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes, full‑cycle accounting (GL, AP/AR, payroll oversight, bank/cash management), and project‑based expenditure tracking (exploration costs capitalization under IFRS 6 and development accounting).
- Manage financial consolidations, variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cash‑flow oversight to support executive decision‑making and investor communications.
- Act as primary liaison with external auditors; prepare audit schedules, working papers, and ensure year‑round audit readiness.
- Strengthen and maintain internal controls in alignment with IFRS, National Instrument 52‑109 (certification), and Canadian Securities Administrators requirements.
- Develop and document accounting policies, procedures, and process improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and close‑cycle timelines.
- Support treasury functions, tax filings/compliance, and regulatory/statutory reporting (GST, etc.).
- Provide financial insights to senior leadership on project economics, burn rate, and capital allocation.
- Build, mentor, and lead the finance team as the company grows; promote accountability and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate across departments and with international partners on finance activities.
- CPA designation (or equivalent) is required.
- 5–10+ years of progressive experience in a senior finance role, with direct experience in a publicly traded mining or resource exploration company strongly preferred (junior mining/exploration environment ideal; exposure to income‑producing assets is a plus).
- Proven hands‑on expertise in IFRS, public company financial reporting, MD&A/AIF preparation, internal controls (NI 52‑109), and working with external auditors.
- Strong technical skills in project accounting, exploration & development cost tracking, consolidations, and ERP/accounting systems (advanced Excel proficiency essential; experience with common junior mining platforms an asset).
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing deadlines, work extra hours when needed (e.g., filing periods), and operate effectively in a lean, deadline‑driven environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills; self‑starter with high attention to detail, integrity, and a solutions‑oriented mindset.
- Experience building or scaling finance processes and teams in a growth‑stage resource company is highly valued.
- Eligible to work in Canada.
