About the opportunity

As an Accounting Clerk at CLBC, you will be responsible for assisting in the ongoing process of monitoring, assessing, interpreting and highlighting financial practices and policies. The Accounting Services team is responsible for managing the systems and processes related to all accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, treasury, and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities
  • Prepare invoices as required by regional offices and head office, and enter invoices into the financial accounting system to ensure accurate recording of revenues and receivables
  • Review and recommend internal controls to ensure procedures and mitigating processes are in place, which lead to accurate financial records
  • Investigate and inquire with CLBC staff on transactions related to the general ledger
  • Perform and analyze complex general ledger reconciliations and resolve discrepancies and issues with service providers or agencies
  • Review and record reports submitted by agents to ensure that reporting is timely and complete
  • Review financial documents received from service providers and agencies to resolve any issues, including discrepancies and complaints
  • Interpret, implement and review financial policies and procedures, including the P-Card policy
  • Reconcile sub-ledger to general ledger control accounts by performing tasks such as reviewing data, identifying discrepancies and recording adjustments
  • Compare and record payments received to invoices recorded, and identify discrepancies
What you’ll bring
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or relevant financial education, with 2 years or more recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel
  • Experience analyzing high volumes of information
  • Knowledge and experience in undertaking accurate analysis and accruals

A high degree of tact, sound judgment, and the ability to plan and organize your workload effectively are essential for success in this role.
