Pav Co is the owner and operator of two of Canada’s premier venues for events, BC Place Stadium and the Vancouver Convention Centre.

BC Pavilion Corporation (Pav Co) is hiring a temporary Finance Manager to join the team for a 24-month contract.

Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Finance Manager plays a pivotal role in the financial success of BC Place Stadium and Pav Co’s business units. This position partners closely with leadership and operational teams to drive strategic outcomes, streamline financial processes, ensure compliance, and provide clear, actionable insights.

The Finance Manager will have a direct impact on high-profile events, including concerts, major sports events, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, helping the organization deliver exceptional experiences while fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.

This role requires the Finance Manager to be hands‑on at events, including evenings and weekends, ensuring smooth financial operations on site.

The position offers a competitive salary of $85,000–$95,000, plus 8% in lieu of vacation.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Lead the day‑to‑day operations of the Finance Department at BC Place Stadium, including receivables, collections, compliance, reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Oversee event accounting and settlements from preliminary through final reconciliation, including billing, collections, G/L and sub‑ledger review, and account reconciliations.
  • Manage financial oversight of major events, including FIFA operations and tenant team billings and settlement, and provide analytical support for future negotiations as required.
  • Serve as FIFA operating site level recovery lead, supporting government funding requests and pre‑audit documentation review, and provide site‑level financial reporting and analysis.
  • Support budget administration, quarterly forecasting, and spending oversight, including food and beverage supplier transactions and non‑event financial service areas.
  • Coordinate month‑end and year‑end processes, including P&L review, KPI reporting, variance analysis, audit sampling, and oversight of the annual audit.
  • Provide financial guidance on leases, building recoveries, supplier agreements, sponsor ships, and client contracts, ensuring risks and margin expectations are identified and managed.
  • Partner with event, sales, and operational leaders to deliver financial scenario analysis, streamline requisitions, and improve workflow efficiencies under tight deadlines.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with shared services teams, auditors, insurance providers, clients, partners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide backfill and financial support to cross‑functional teams and major projects, including 2026 FIFA World Cup event settlement support as required.
  • Lead, coach, and develop staff performance and accountability.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent is preferred.
  • Completion of a 4‑year University program in Finance or Accounting or a combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience in event‑based environment and 1+ year of managerial experience, ideally within convention/hotel industry.
  • Solid knowledge of PSA and GAAP standards.
  • High level of accountability and business sense driven.
  • Detail oriented strategic thinker with exceptional analytical abilities and sound judgment.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead, coach and mentor staff to reach their full potential.
  • Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills; demonstrated ability to prioritize conflicting requirements in a timely manner.
  • A sound working knowledge of a wide variety of software applications including Microsoft Office (including higher level functions of MS Excel such as pivot tables, lookups, etc.), Momentus (or other event management systems), and web‑based ticketing platforms.
